Frequently asked questions

Please read through these questions before contacting us by email. Questions asked that can be answered below will be directed towards this page.

What are try-outs?

Try-outs serve as an evaluation to determine whether your child is suited for one of our Competitive Team levels. Students enrolled in advanced or intermediate recreational classes automatically receive an invitation to Team try-outs. Students at other levels must be recommended by a coach to participate.

During try-outs, coaches will assess each gymnast’s current skill level and estimate their potential progress by the start of the competition season. Below, you’ll find the average age range for each level, along with a sample of key skill requirements (note that there are additional skills not listed here—this is just to give you a general idea). Skills build progressively from one level to the next. To be ready for the season, gymnasts must demonstrate the required skills safely and with proper form.

What is Team?
Our Competitive Team participates in meets sanctioned and governed by USA Gymnastics. Levels Bronze- Platinum are part of the USAG XCEL Program and Level 6-10 are part of the USAG Compulsory program. These levels are progressive in nature, building upon the skills required at the previous level. Through hard work and dedication, our Team gymnasts will learn not only the sport of gymnastics, but also lifelong skills that apply throughout their adult lives. Emphasis will include building confidence, conflict and time management, achieving goals and realizing their unique worth when they put forth the effort to succeed. There is a lot of pride taken in our Team program. This is a demanding sport that requires dedication, desire, and commitment in order to be the best you can be. The rewards and memories can be lifelong!

How long is the season and can we take a break for summer?

Our season runs from June through May, with practices starting the week of June 2nd. If your daughter is placed on a Team, she will continue in her recreational class until practices begin. Please keep in mind that gymnastics is a year-round sport. During the summer, gymnasts focus on developing new skills, refining routines, and building strength, flexibility, and endurance. Summer practice is essential for growth and progression in our program, and all Team gymnasts are required to participate.

What is the practice schedule and what is the cost of monthly tuition?

Teams follow a set summer schedule that runs from June to mid-August and a set school year schedule from mid-August through May. There are no weekend practices for Team during the summer schedule. There is typically one weekend practice per month during the school year schedule.

The exact days and times for the summer schedule are finalized once Team placement acceptance forms are received and Team rosters are set. Those final rosters for each level allow us to schedule based on an appropriate gymnast-to-coach ratio for practice groups. The school year schedule is typically finalized toward the end of July, as gymnasts returning to Team from the previous season have the summer to achieve new skills before receiving their level placement for the new season.

Below you will find the current hours and monthly tuition as a guideline for each level. Schedules and tuition amounts will be sent via email as soon as the details are finalized.

Annual Registration Fee - Due Annually on May 15th: $100

Monthly Tuition - Due on 1st of every month. Monthly tuition for Team is required to be on automatic draft through your parent portal.

What level of commitment is expected when joining Team?

This is a 12-month program and we do not take summers off. Consistent attendance is vital to your child’s growth, development, and success. We expect all athletes to be fully committed to their scheduled practices and all competitions. If your daughter needs to miss practice due to illness, vacation, or another conflict, please be sure to notify us in advance if possible. While occasional absences are understandable, frequent or extended time away from practice can hinder your child’s progress, disrupt the coaches’ lesson plans, and may impact her eligibility to compete. There is a 30-day drop notice for Team.

What is the competition schedule?

The meet schedule changes yearly but is typically finalized in September for the upcoming season. Expect around 4-8 meets depending on what level your daughter will be in. In September, we’ll ask for your athlete’s availability for the upcoming meets. However, the specific day and time your child will compete will not be released until a few weeks before each meet. Since meet fees are non-refundable, we strongly recommend that families keep the entire meet weekend open—including Fridays—until session times are confirmed. Your daughter will only need to attend meets during her specific competition time, not the entire weekend. Sessions usually last 3–4 hours, including warm-up, competition, and the awards ceremony. Meets are generally held from January through April and may take place on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, with sessions starting as early as 8:00 AM.

What expenses are involved?

Competitive Team gymnasts are required to purchase the full uniform. Uniforms include a leotard, warm up (top & bottoms), and a backpack and are kept on a three-year cycle (this upcoming season will be the last year for our current uniform).
